Amber Heard defends herself against attacks from Johnny Depp’s lawyers

Amber Heard strongly rejected on Tuesday the accusations of Johnny Depp’s lawyers who accused her of being violent, manipulative and provoking arguments or assaulting her ex-husband, during the latter’s defamation lawsuit, whom she accused of domestic violence.

For several hours, Camille Vásquez, one of Johnny Depp’s lawyers, tried to portray the 36-year-old actress as the instigator of the multiple arguments with her ex-husband, and often the first to attack.

“I have never assaulted Mr. Depp or anyone I was in a romantic relationship with, ever,” Amber Heard confidently replied in court in Fairfax, Virginia, near Washington.

“Many times I had to use my body to defend myself, and that included hitting where I could if it allowed me to get away,” he explained, “if that meant a swollen face instead of ‘a broken nose,’ he continued.

She denied being “the first to attack”.

Amber Heard claims that the actor would have cut the tip of his finger when breaking a phone before attacking him, a version that the lawyer questioned given the seriousness of this injury.

The actress also admitted not having made a medical certificate or consulted a doctor after the alleged brutal attack.

The first four weeks of the trial drew a “very toxic relationship” between the couple, in a context of drug and alcohol use by Johnny Depp, and revealed very crude details.

The two actors had started an affair in October 2011 before getting married in February 2015. The divorce was finalized in early 2017.

Deliberations will continue until May 27, after which the seven jurors will retire to deliberate.
